upship kim (the “Company”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how information is collected and processed when you use The Path of Today app.
Article 1. Core Principle — Local-First
The Path of Today stores all user data exclusively on your device.
- The Company does not collect, transmit, or store your location, routes, emotions, photos, notes, or any other personal information on any server.
- The Company does not operate an account system. No sign-up is required to use the app.
- All data is permanently deleted from your device when the app is uninstalled.
Article 2. Information Processed
The Company processes the following information only on your device.

The app does not collect any identifying information such as your name, email address, or phone number.
Article 3. App Permissions
The app requests the following permissions. You can revoke any permission at any time through your device settings.
Required
- Precise Location (FINE_LOCATION): GPS coordinates for route tracking
- Activity Recognition / Motion: Step counting
Optional
- Background Location: Continuous route tracking when the screen is off (for long hikes or walks)
- Notifications: Walk start/end alerts and reminders
- Camera / Photos: Attaching photos to walk records
- Health Data (HealthKit / Health Connect): Reading today’s step count, distance, and calories (processed on-device only; not transmitted to any server)
Denying optional permissions limits only the related features; all other features remain available.
Article 4. Third-Party Services
The Company does not sell or share your personal information with third parties. The following tools are used to operate the Service.

- Google Maps, Apple Maps, Firebase Crashlytics, Sentry, and Firebase Remote Config do not receive your location history, mood data, or any personal content.
- OpenWeatherMap receives your current GPS coordinates solely for weather lookup and does not store or use them for any other purpose.
- Firebase Crashlytics and Sentry collect technical information only.
Article 5. Advertising & Tracking
- The current version does not serve behavioral advertising.
- If advertising is introduced in the future, users will be notified in advance and iOS App Tracking Transparency (ATT) and Android Advertising ID policies will be followed.
Article 6. Children’s Privacy
The Service is not directed at children under 14 years of age, and the Company does not knowingly collect personal information from such children.
Article 7. Your Rights
You may exercise the following rights at any time:
- Access: View all your data directly in the app
- Correction: Edit any record directly in the app
- Deletion: Delete individual records or delete the app to remove all data immediately
- Restriction: Revoke permissions via device settings to stop data processing
Because the Company does not store your data on servers, no formal data request process is necessary. For any inquiries, contact us at the address below and we will respond within a reasonable timeframe (no later than 14 days).
Article 8. International Data Transfers
The Company does not transfer your personal information outside your country. Third-party services such as Google Maps may process data on global infrastructure in accordance with their own privacy policies.
Article 9. Security Measures
- On-device data is isolated through OS-level app sandboxing
- The database is stored in an app-private directory inaccessible to other apps
- No external network transmission occurs beyond map rendering, weather lookup, error reporting, and version checks
Article 10. Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated in response to changes in law or service policy. Material changes will be announced via in-app notice or update release notes at least 7 days before taking effect.
